Omar aims to achieve his key goals

OMAR Bogle is confident his belated Blues debut will soon be followed by his first goal for the club.

As a young player Bogle spent time in the academy at St Andrew’s before being released to spend a nomadic few seasons, both in England and Scotland.

Since turning professional he has played for Grimsby, Wigan, Peterborough and Cardiff, and only returned to Blues a few weeks ago. Seven years after leaving the club, he finally pulled on a Blues shirt for the first time at Middlesbrough.

“I haven’t played much in the past year, to be honest, so I am surprised myself to get in so early. But that’s testament to the faith the gaffer has in me,” said Bogle. “When I play I have to work hard to try and repay that faith he has in me. I feel myself getting stronger and sharper. I feel a lot better as games go on.

“Three games in a week is the most I have played in probably about 18 months. The goals are going to come as well.

“I have been unlucky in a few situations, nothing has really fallen to me for me to finish, but this has been a bit of a pre-season for me.

“The goals will come now I am playing, I have no worries about that. It’s a fresh start for me.

“Over that time there has been injuries, this and that – loads of different reasons – but I have come here to play games, ultimately help the team and the club do better.

“A lot of the times over the last year it has been out of my control, you get frustrated.

“But I have always had the belief I am going to be playing somewhere and doing well, so it was only a matter of time really.”

Bogle has been gratified by the reception he has received from supporters.

“The fans’ response has been unbelievable, all the supporters have been really good with me at the games. They’ve got behind me and the response has been great,’’ he said. “It’s great to hear them singing my name, it’s my home city. Everyone knows my history with Blues, so I’m buzzing when that happens.”
