Bright future as new chairwoman takes the helm
PROFESSIONAL networking group BPS Birmingham Future has appointed its new chairman.
Katie Fulcher is an executive officer at Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership and will lead the body for a one-year tenure.
She replaces Victoria Ball, a construction solicitor and legal director in the Birmingham office of law firm DLA Piper. Ms Fulcher officially took over the reins at an event at the Council House.
In her first speech, she set out her core themes and objectives for the year, focusing on ensuring Birmingham Future provides a relevant and effective membership experience and the need for professional firms to deliver services to innovate in the face of technological changes. She also said she hoped the membership organisation could successfully facilitate the promotion of a more diverse set of opinions and perspectives that would be heard not only within the professional services sector but by wider audiences.
Ms Ball also delivered her final speech, highlighting her year in the chair, which included the 18th annual Birmingham Young Professional of the Year Awards in May and Professional Services Week, which saw 1,000 students visit more than 40 firms for workshops and seminars in June.
Samantha Miller, associate at law firm Eversheds Sutherland, took over as deputy chairman of Birmingham Future at the event.
