Albion boss defends ten team changes

-

DARREN Moore insisted he had no regrets at making ten changes as Albion were battered 3-0 by Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

Goals from Andros Townsend (two) and Patrick van Aarnholt set up a comfortable victory for the visitors who cruised into the fourth round without breaking a sweat.

Moore, pictured, claimed Albion were still in the game until the final 15 minutes where Palace fired in two goals to wrap up the win – but it was a clash the Baggies struggled to get to grips with from the off.

“It was a mixed game,” he said. “There were some good parts and some bad.

“To concede the first goal so early, it was a wonder strike from Townsend and that left us chasing the game.

“There were some good parts from us for a large part, up until their second goal which changed it.

“Our final detail needed to be better. Our final pass could have been better. We needed to be more cutting and that let us down.”

As for the positives, he added: “It was good to see Morrison and Hoolahan come through 90 minutes.

“It was good for Tosin as a youngster to come through 90 minutes as well.”

And Moore did not regret making so many changes: “No, not at all. “We have got a squad here. “We made 10 changes tonight and they have done well in previous rounds.

“For large parts of the game we were very much in it.

“It’s the last ten minutes where they got the goals to make it 3-0. “I learned a lot. “I will watch the video back but it will be 24 hours only.

“I only get chance to sit on it for 24 hours because there’s so many games.”
