Five arrested after Dale End triple stabbings

-

POLICE have made five arrests following a triple stabbing in Birmingham city centre last week.

They have now identified 13 of 20 people they were seeking via CCTV images after mass violence erupted in Dale End.

Two weapons and drugs were also found in a sweep of the area.

The investigation is continuing after shocking scenes outside a McDonald’s when up to 100 youths brawled in broad daylight. Teenagers were shoved, booted and battered as violence escalated.

Among the injured were three people who suffered stab wounds. All have now been discharged from hospital.

Supt Ian Green, of Birmingham Police, said: “We are aware that people are worried about large groups of young people gathering in Dale End and drug issues.

“We are working closely with partners, local businesses and the community to address these concerns.

“The triple stabbing on Tuesday, October 2, was completely unacceptable and we’re working tirelessly to establish what happened.

“So far we’ve identified 13 people from the 20 images we released. We have arrested five and voluntarily interviewed two more. The others will be interviewed in due course as our investigation continues at full pace.”

Supt Green added: “We’ve increased patrols in the area and we’re working closely with businesses to deter any further incidents. We do not tolerate knife crime and remain committed to doing all we can to keep our streets safe.”
