Day of National Remembrance Service in Birmingham

-

BIRMINGHAM’S Day of National Remembrance Service to commemorate 100 years since the end of the First World War will be held on Colmore Row this year.

Work to rebuild Centenary Square began in the spring of 2017 and was originally expected to have been finished by now. But in September, the council said it would not be finished until the summer of 2019.

Although Victoria Square was used last year for the service and parades, it has now been dug up to facilitate the building of the Midland Metro Tram extension from the top of Stephenson Street to Five Ways.

The main events will take place from 10.15am on Sunday, November 11, 2018 – the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

For the 2018 service, a temporary grandstand will be erected on Colmore Row for veterans and VIPs.

Buses will be rerouted away from Colmore Row which will be closed to traffic from 6am to 2.30pm on Sunday, November 11.
