Mystery over departure of Bullring centre chief

-

MYSTERY surrounds the departure of the Bullring ’s general manager Michaela Moore, who has left the shopping centre after four years in the role.

Bullring ’s co-owner Hammerson confirmed that Ms Moore was no longer in the post but declined to elaborate further on the reasons behind her departure.

Ms Moore took over from longtime incumbent Tim Walley in autumn 2014 and became general manager of Grand Central as well in summer 2017, following Hammerson’s acquisition of the shopping centre the previous year.

London-based Hammerson already started the search for replacement.

The listed group said in a statement: “We can confirm that Michaela Moore, who was general manager of Bullring and Grand Central, has left the business.

“We are currently recruiting for the role and will update once a successful candidate has been selected.

“We have a talented team who will continue to ensure Bullring and Grand Central delivers an exceptional retail and leisure experience for customers and retailers in Birmingham.”

Ms Moore, who has almost 30 years of experience in the retail industry, joined Bullring from fashion brand Jaeger where she worked in the company’s outlet channel. She featured in both of the

Power 250 supplements which showcased the key figures working in the city’s business, political and civic sectors.

This latest development comes just six weeks after we reported that has her Hammerson had instructed two contractors working at Bullring and Grand Central to slash their budgets and find efficiency savings, just as the run-up to Christmas was starting.

Surrey-based VSG operates the security contract, providing staff to cover areas such as the main malls, service yards, car parks and overnight operations, while Londonbased ABM provides facilities management services such as cleaning, maintenance and house-keeping.
