SPEAR OF DESTINY are playing Birmingham’s Hare and Hounds as part of their One Eyed Jacks @ 35 tour.

Thirty-five years after releasing the One Eyed Jacks album Kirk Brandon and the current line up of SOD featuring Craig Adams (The Mission / Sisters Of Mercy), Adrian Portas (New Model Army), and Phil Martini (Wayward Sons) were given the opportunit­y to re-record it.

The recording has been released on CD, vinyl and download in time for the September 19 show.

RED RUM CLUB will round off their breakthrou­gh year with a string of UK live dates including a stop at Birmingham’s O2 Academy on September 29. The Liverpool six-piece released debut album Matador to critical acclaim and performed tent-tipping sets at the likes of Glastonbur­y, and Isle Of Wight festivals.

JAMES BLUNT, above, best known for his song You’re Beautiful, is to play Arena Birmingham on... Valentine’s Day. The chart-topping single was featured on James’ debut album, Back to Bedlam, in 2004. He releases his sixth studio album, Once Upon A Mind, on October 25.

Scottish rock group BIFFY CLYRO has announced a standalone show in Birmingham. Following on from a string of summer dates, they’ll perform a special Jack Daniels Presents gig at Digbeth Arena on Thursday, October 17. Tickets, priced from £30, include a compliment­ary drink from a Jack Daniels cocktail bar.

AMBER RUN will be making a headline appearance at Birmingham’s O2 Academy on October 6 to showcase new album Philophobi­a. The East Midlands indie rock trio are promising a haunting and soul-searching listen.

To Kill A King frontman RALPH PELLEYMOUN­TER will bringing his acclaimed solo venture Dead Debutante’s Ball to Birmingham’s Cuban Embassy on October 9. The record was praised by The Independen­t as “beautifull­y arranged, with instrument­ation built on fuzzy electric guitar and yearning violins”.
