BEATS GO SOLO PRO
BEATS this week revealed its first on-ear headphones with active noise cancellation – the Solo Pro.
You can think of them, essentially, as the Solo 4 – an upgrade on the 3 that brings not just the noise cancellation, but also the wizardry that the W1 and H1 chips made by Apple, which owns Beats, bring to the party.
For a start, there’s the ridiculously easy pairing, then there’s the audio sharing features – that allow more than one person to get the audio from one device at the same time. If you have a compatible device and compatible headphones you can both listen at once.
The Transparency feature on the Solo Pro dials down the noise cancellation so you can hear just the right amount of background noise to keep you connected to the world outside – it’ll also dynamically adjust volume as you move into noisier spaces.
There are simple controls, too. There’s no power button – you just unfold the headphones and they power up ready to go. The right-side offers touch controls for skipping tracks and pausing, while the other side toggles between noise cancellation and Transparency.
If you’re paired with an Apple device you can also invoke Siri hands-free via voice commands.
Battery-life is exceptional, too – a single charge will give you 22 hours of playback time – and up to 40 if you turn off noise cancellation and Transparency. A quick 10-minute charge via Lightning cable gives a full three hours of listening.
The Solo Pro costs £265.95 and will hit the shops in black, ivory, dark blue, light blue and red on October 30.
