Digital hub company is backing tech awards

-

A BIRMINGHAM campus that helps digital firms to thrive is backing the stars of the region’s fintech sector at our annual tech awards.

Bruntwood SciTech is the latest name to support the 2019 West Midlands Tech Awards which take place in Birmingham next week.

It is sponsoring the FinTech Business of the Year Award which will recognise those firms finding new ways to deliver financial technology services in fields such as retail or corporate finance.

It is one of nine categories to be handed out at the ceremony on December 12 at the ICC in Birmingham, which will be hosted by Gadget Show presenter Georgie Barrat.

The awards are run by BirminghamLive and our sister website CoventryLive.

Bruntwood SciTech is a joint venture between Legal and General and commercial property firm Bruntwood, the company behind Birmingham office complexes such as Cornwall Buildings and Cornerblock.

Bruntwood SciTech owns and manages Innovation Birmingham Campus, the city centre tech and digital hub which provides office accommodation for small companies and runs mentoring and accelerator programmes for new businesses.

More than 170 tech companies call the campus home across several buildings, including Faraday Wharf and iCentrum which opened in 2016 as part of a long-running expansion of the hub.

The next phase will be Enterprise Wharf, a 120,000 sq ft, 11-storey building for tech and digital companies due to open in 2021.

David Hardman, managing director of Bruntwood SciTech in Birmingham, said: “We are proud to be a sponsor of this year’s West Midlands Tech Awards.

“The Birmingham of today is undergoing massive transformation, with technology at the heart of this change.

“As the region’s reputation as a vibrant innovation hub continues to grow, we are happy to celebrate the achievements of the brightest and best currently working here in the tech industry.”
