Apartments plan for former office

-

AN office block in Sutton Coldfield is set to be transformed into dozens of new homes after a multi-million pound development was given the go-ahead.

Developer Urban Village Capital confirmed its £14 million proposal to revamp Four Oaks House, near the railway station in Lichfield Road, to create 69 apartments.

The build-to-rent development has been approved by Birmingham City Council and construction work is expected to get under way this month.

Urban Village Capital, based at the Moat House, on the edge of the Sutton Coldfield college site, has recently worked on converting the Old Art School in Lichfield Road into 12 apartments. It has also carried out the £15 million revamp of Knights House in the town centre in to 63 apartments and 12 penthouses.

Four Oaks House will have a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments over four floors, with an roof terrace and secure car parking, for the private rented sector.

The company is led by chief executive Nick Sellman, chief operating officer Kevin Sharkey and construction director Jamie Sellman.

Mr Sellman, an experienced property developer with a specific focus on urban regeneration, said: “Kevin, Jamie and I all grew up in Sutton Coldfield, and still live in the town, so it’s very rewarding to be involved in a project which will bring a fresh lease of life to this building.

“The project will deliver the complete transformation of a tired building into a great place for people to work, rest and play.

“The location is outstanding, being just a stone’s throw from Four Oaks train station, and a short walk to Sutton Park. The many shops, bars, restaurants and community facilities at Mere Green are also nearby.

“We will retain all of the apartments as we continue to grow our portfolio of properties in the private rented sector.”

Urban Village Capital said its mission is to deliver ‘quality residential developments that generate target returns for institutional and private investors’.
