Albion given a Ray of hope on new deal
WEST Brom believe their chances of retaining Rayhaan Tulloch are improving.
The Post understands the Baggies are ‘increasingly confident’ a deal to keep the 19-year-old at the club can be struck.
Tulloch has been a regular for Albion’s Under-23s this season and has featured from the bench in the FA Cup under
Slaven Bilic.
But his contract expires this summer and talks are ongoing with his representatives. That comes amid renewed reports that Rangers, with whom he was linked in January, are still keen on signing him.
Scottish Premiership rivals Hibernian, French Ligue 1 side Marseille and Spanish La Liga club Leganes are also believed to be interested.
Tulloch has scored an impressive nine goals in 14 Premier League 2 appearances this campaign and added four assists.
He featured in the FA Cup ties against Charlton, West Ham and Newcastle as a substitute.
A West Brom source says they are ‘making progress’ with the academy prospect, who has also played for England in various age groups.
Meanwhile, Championship clubs are considering a proposal for those promoted to the Premier League to pay everyone else’s bill for coronavirus testing.
Leeds and Albion are well clear in the automatic spots, with Fulham, Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Preston all competing for promotion via the play-offs.
Millwall have put forward the idea in an effort to alleviate concerns about the cost of testing. The Lions are eighth in the table and, facing a relatively straightforward run-in, have a real chance of gatecrashing the top six.
The club have written to the 23 other teams, all of whom are facing an outlay of around £200,000 for the testing required to restart the campaign.
Their plan would mean the three clubs who go up paying around £1.4 million each – once they have access to the riches of the Premier League.
They say the proposal has received backing by ‘several’ clubs, although it would need rubberstamping by the EFL.
