Way to LEGO! Town hall visit proves inspiration for Chris
A MIDLAND town hall proved the inspiration for a very lifelike LEGO model after a visitor from the north got building after a visit.
Chris Fearn, 51, from Chapeltown in Sheffield, was inspired to build by a trip to Tamworth two years ago.
Having seen the building in person and been impressed by its architecture, he took photos to build his design and has now shared the final product.
He explains: “It contains approximately 2,100 pieces and took me around 21 hours to build.
“The reason I decided to build it was because back in 2018 I visited Tamworth. We were caravanning nearby and when I saw the town hall I thought it would make a great subject for a LEGO model so I took some pictures. The architecture of the building is very interesting.
“I would say that the Tamworth Town Hall model ranks in the top three models that I’ve built. I intend to take it to LEGO shows when we are out of lockdown. The biggest I have been to is Sheffield Brickfest, which is usually in February, the last one being February this year. I have built a few MOCs (my own creations), mostly microscale buildings for a micropolis city. I’ve built three modular buildings, a baker, a haunted house and an approximation of a pub in Cockermouth called The
Black Bull.
“I’ve built loads of mini MOCs over the last couple of years.
“I’ve always been into LEGO, as a child and now as a parent. About 30 per cent of my LEGO is made up of what I ‘adopted’ from my children’s, the rest is what I have collected over the last four years or so.
“My son, aged 24, doesn’t really acknowledge it but my daughter, aged 21, supports my hobby and shows interest, she’s the one that encouraged me to start my YouTube channel.”
