The thugs brutally attacked a gang rival as he was being arrested by police in Edgbaston. Officers drew their Tasers and hit the alarms on their radios before they fled. They were later arrested and jailed for the affray.

Jamie Wood Frankley Killers

April 2018

Three years and eight months for conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Wood was jailed after he sat in a getaway car and filmed as a shooter armed with a sawn-off shotgun jogged over to a house in Coriander Close, Northfield. Recovered phone footage showed the gun being fired after voices were heard shouting “Slide it back, give it a good bang lad!”

Life with a minimum of 32 years for murder.

The Birmingham gangster was jailed for shooting dead Derek Junior Myers. Beckford, known as ‘Dreads’, was jailed for murdering his gang rival outside the Big Bang club in Soho Hill, Hockley. Beckford, from Duchess Road, Ladywood, shot his victim in the jaw and chest with a handgun in the early hours of October 30, 2015.

Jamael Scarlett and Courtney Farrell

Scarlett jailed for 16 years and Farrell for nine years for possessing firearms and ammunition.

Scarlett and Farrell, both 21, did not have extensive criminal records but were lured into gang culture in south Birmingham, believing it to be an attractive, lucrative way of life. They were convicted through DNA evidence and text messages in which they discussed obtaining guns with Jamaal Ahmed, who was jailed for six years after admitting conspiracy to supply firearms.
