Water sanitiser company opens factory in region

ASANITISER and water treatment firm has chosen the West Midlands to expand its UK reach and open a new factory.

Essex-based International Water Solutions manufactures and distributes its own brand of water treatment sanitiser which is used mainly in the farming sector.

The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in an increase in demand for hand sanitiser which has prompted the firm to expand its products and create a new arm of the company called Mydis.

This will focus on the production and supply of its own alcohol-free antibacterial sanitiser and a string of associated products.

Mydis has taken 6,041 sq ft of space on Park Farm industrial area in Redditch, Worcestershire.

The company also manufactures dispensers, ‘fogger’ sprayers that create a mist that disinfects large areas and booths that disinfect people as they enter buildings.

Finance director Jeffrey Kinn said: “We are based in Essex and needed a more central distribution centre in the Midlands so Redditch was ideal for our purposes.

“The unit is initially operating as a distribution centre but we are looking to install some major production equipment over the coming months. “When that happens, we will probably be looking to recruit locally.

“The sanitiser was initially just a sideline.

“Our main business is the production of Xziox, a biocidal disinfectant widely used in the agricultural industry in the UK but the pandemic created a major opportunity for the business with an alcohol-free sanitiser ready to go into large-scale production.

“Our products are currently being used in hospitals, airport terminals, on board planes and trains and even in churches.

“It has meant exponential growth in the size of our business over the last few months. This virus is clearly going to be with us for some time to come.

“It is the ‘new normal’ and we have adapted our business to meet this challenge.”

Ian Parker, managing director of property agency John Truslove, negotiated a three-year lease for the unit on behalf of landlord Paloma Capital.

He said: “The Park Farm area of Redditch provides an ideal base for any business seeking to establish a distribution centre to give itself nationwide reach.

“We look forward to continuing to work with the company as it increases its operations in the area.”
