Former police station up for sale at £700,000

-

THE former Tamworth Police Station is gone on the market priced at £700,000.

The building, in Spinning School Lane, closed in May last year with both police and the fire service working together from the town’s Belgrave Community Fire Station. Now on sale via Louis Taylor, its guide information says: “Dating from the 1970s, it provides a variety of accommodation at ground floor including three upper floors along with a large surfaced yard.

“We believe the building to be a concrete frame construction with glazed brick elevations beneath a flat roof. The ground floor has a variety of accommodation in an effective ‘U’ shape configuration with various offices, male and female custody suites, changing room facilities,

WCs, locker room and former exterior dog kennel.

“All floors are serviced with lift access from the central core. The first, second and third floor accommodation all shares a similar layout with central core lift access, WCs and open plan along with cellular offices. The third floor has a former dining area and canteen.” Announcing the front office closure last year, Chief Inspector Ashley Farrington, local neighbourhood commander for Tamworth at the time, said: “The closure is part of the force’s transformation around how it works and better serves communities in an ever changing digital age.

“Officers will still work from Tamworth and will be out and about in the local community.”
