CARROT GETS AN UPDATE
THE world’s rudest weather app has been given an update – Carrot Weather has hit version five. And its makers have left no corner of the app unpolished – there are a host of new features, too. The biggest change is in the look, which now more closely matches iOS’s default feel. But there’s
also a new customisation system, which allows you to build the ‘weather app of your dreams’.
Also new is the move to a subscription model, with the app now costing £4.99 a month for access to all features. Still there, though, is the attitude – Carrot’s personality remains as snarky and as irreverent as ever.
IOS 14 CHANGES
A UPDATE in the works for Apple’s iPhone will finally allow you to unlock your phone with Face ID even if you are wearing a face-covering… but only if you have an Apple Watch. iOS 14.5 has just been released to developers and will be heading to all iPhones in the coming days. It brings a number of new features.
The new unlocking option is off by default, but when activated will unlock your phone automatically on raise as long as you have your Apple
Watch on and it’s unlocked. Other features coming in 14.5 include the new opt-in privacy system for apps – you will have to agree to data gathering by apps and services before they can access your info.
There’s also support for the new game controllers from Sony and Microsoft.
Out ahead of the new update is an upgrade for Apple’s stock weather app – you’ll now see real-time rain or snow predictions for the next hour in much more detail than before.
