Woman jailed for attack on two men

-

A REDDITCH woman who attacked members of the public in an unprovoked assault and then spat in the face of arresting police officers has been jailed.

Catherine Eaves, from Stanley Close, approached two men near a bench in the town centre on Monday, October 11 and punched both of them in the face during the ‘disgusting’ attack.

The 37-year-old was then arrested but became so violent in the back of the police car that the police officers had to pull over.

She kicked the officers, spat in their face and bit one of them on the arm, causing a 1cm cut which broke the skin.

She appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates Court charged with the assaults on both the members of the public and police officers.

Eaves was also found to be guilty of breaching the terms of a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order granted in April 2021, which prohibits her from using foul, abusive or offensive language and/or behaving in an aggressive, threatening or intimidating manner.

She was ultimately jailed for 32 weeks by the magistrates.

Inspector Lee Page from West Mercia Police said: “The unprovoked attack on two members of the public was appalling in its own right and exacerbated by the disgusting assault on the two police officers who had arrested her.

“Thankfully nobody suffered serious injuries although one of the officers who was bitten had to receive a number of injections and take a course of antibiotics to prevent infection.

“This wasn’t the first time Catherine Eaves has come to police attention, which is why she was already subject to the terms of a CBO which was granted earlier in the year following a conviction for theft.”
