New chief executive for Shoosmiths to take over

-

LAW firm Shoosmiths has elected a Birmingham-based partner as its new UK chief executive.

Commercial specialist David Jackson will take over the top job in May from Simon Boss who is also based in the firm’s Birmingham office.

Mr Jackson currently leads Shoosmiths’ national commercial group and has spearheaded some of its legal technology services and other products including the non-legal service arm Shoosmiths 8 Connected Services.

He has been a partner for 15 years, having joined the firm in 2006 from Compass Group where he was legal counsel and prior to that worked for DLA Piper.

Mr Jackson said: “I am honoured and excited to be taking on the role of chief executive of Shoosmiths.

“It is no small challenge to follow in Simon’s footsteps given the exceptional job he has done over the last three years in steering us through the pandemic and delivering impressive growth across all our business areas.

“Those turbulent times have brought out the very best in our management team, our partners and

our people, and I feel truly privileged to have the opportunity to work alongside Peter in leading them through the next chapter in Shoosmiths’ story.

“The rate of change in the legal profession has never been greater and that trend is only going to continue, bringing with it many opportunities.

“So I am really looking forward to the journey ahead.”

Mr Boss added: “I have absolute confidence that David, with his spirit, energy and expertise, will excel in the role of chief executive and build upon the successes we continue to enjoy.

“Although I have decided to step back from the role, I intend to continue my focus on social mobility and other aspects of the environmental, social and corporate governance agenda.

“I would like to thank the firm and everyone I have worked with closely with over the last three years.
