HOTEL OF THE WEEK

-

WHERE AND WHY: The former Liverpool Echo and Daily Post newspaper building is where you’ll find the city’s newest hotel.

Located in the heart of Liverpool, it’s a short walk from the famous waterfront, while the Cavern Club, iconic haunt of

The Beatles, is a 10-minute stroll away.

Melia Hotels’ lifestyle brand delivers an abundance of style and up-to-the-minute design.

Its 207 rooms, offering river or city views, or both, are a mix of understated modern design with quirky touches – we loved the yoga mat, retro telephone and cosy bathrobes.

Luxurious king-size beds ensured the perfect night’s sleep and our Studio room’s espresso machine helped us to kickstart the day.

INNSiDE has joined forces with celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo, so expect an extensive menu of mouthwatering Italian dishes in Gino D’Acampo Old Hall Street.

ON THE MENU:

Splash out on linguine with lobster served in the shell and packed with punchy flavours (£27.25), or opt for one of the reasonably priced pizzas, pastas, salads and steaks.

Then head up to the 18th floor to the rooftop SkyBar for its spectacular 360-degree views across the city and the Mersey.

WHILE YOU’RE THERE: The Pier Head with the majestic Three Graces, and Royal Albert Dock, home to Tate Liverpool, are a short walk away, or there’s Liverpool One shopping centre for some retail therapy.

Hop on an open-top bus for a tour of the lively city, taking in all the Fab Four’s hotspots, with plenty of laughs along the way.

WAKE UP CALL: Rooms start at £67 per night. melia.com/en
