Nothing negative about junk shop find
BACK in the 1920s there were very few people who could afford a camera of their own.
So these photographs, which have survived almost a hundred years, are particulary interesting. Walsall reader Anthony Jarratt found them as negatives while perusing brica-brac, and is hoping that Bugle readers will be able to tell us who the people portrayed were. There are a couple of clues that came with them, as Anthony told us:
“These photographs were developed by me, from negatives found in a junk shop.
“Maybe someone might recognise this family from way back. I would hazard a guess that they were from this part of the world, because they were in a photo wallet from Beatties of Wolverhampton. The surname on the wallet is Woolton. And just note the price: one and tuppence. The probable date of them is April 16, 1927,
“It also strikes me that they may have been quite well off, given their surroundings and attire.
“It would be interesting to know a little of their lives and history, and even if they have family still around.” ■ Do you know of any Wooltons, who lived in the Wolverhampton area back in the prewar years?
