THAT was a great article as ever by Steve Gordos back in the June 17 edition, about Bilston-born footballer Stan Crowther.
I do not want to denigrate Nat Lofthouse or Bolton’s win in 1958 but as referred to by Steve here is the 55th minute second goal that saw Harry Gregg taken into the net.
Different times I know but controversial even then and I believe it contributed to the much greater protection that keepers have nowadays?
