A residential revival in Rattray

-

New affordable housing for council tenants has opened in Rattray.

Seven new bungalows were officially opened by Perth and Kinross Council housing and health committee convener, Councillor Dave Doogan, on Wednesday last week.

The one-bedroom homes at Old Mill Road were built for the council with Perthshire-based Hadden Construction as the main contractor.

These new bungalows are part of PKC’s ongoing house-building programme which has delivered around 200 new council houses in the last three years.

The new Old Mill Road units add to a neighbourhood where nearby 15 disused council properties were renovated and brought back into use.

Councillor Doogan said:“The investment we have made in this new housing, along with the refurbishment of the existing council houses, has totally transformed this area of Rattray.

“Where before there were rundown and empty council houses, we now have an area of high-quality affordable housing where people want to live.

“As a council we are determined to increase the level of social housing. We have made very good progress over the last three years through our house building programme, and a more extensive programme over the next few years will continue to deliver new homes for people right across our area.”
