Two East Perthshire men appeared on indictment at Perth Sheriff Court last week, accused of scarring another man for life by striking him on the head with a bar stool during an attack in a local bar.

The pair were 19-year-old Michael McKay and Edward McKay (54), both of Hay Street, Coupar Angus.

It is alleged that on September 12 last year, at the Victoria Inn, Gray Street, Coupar Angus, they assaulted Andrew Campbell by repeatedly punching him on the head and body and then striking him with the stool, to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement and permanent impairment.

Michael McKay is also said to have been subject to three bail orders from the Perth court at the time - August 5 and 21 and September 7.

Both accused had their bail continued meantime and had a trial date set for a jury sitting which opens on September 13.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for August 30.

Later the same morning, 35-yearold Andrew Campbell, of Hill Garden, Coupar Angus, appeared in the dock to face two assault charges. One alleges that he struck Edward McKay on the head with a stool in the Victoria Inn the same day, to his injury and permanent disfigurement.

A second charge claims that he also assaulted a female by throwing a bar stool at her which struck her on the head to her injury, permanent disfigurement and permanent impairment.
