Join in community picnic
Award-winning volunteer group Coupar Angus Pride of Place (PoP) is hosting a picnic at the community woodland on Butterybank this Friday – and everyone is invited to attend.
The evening will get under way at 6pm and is being held as part of the national charity Keep Scotland Beautiful’s (KSB) One World Picnic campaign, which aims to encourage a focus on the sustainability of food production.
With this in mind everyone is asked to bring a picnic that includes local produce and minimum packaging if possible.
This is the first time that the Butterybank community woodland, now home to 450 small trees planted by locals, will be used by the community as a venue.
Anne Easson, chair of PoP, encouraged everyone to come along to the new woodland to explore the site, watch the sun go down, enjoy their picnic and meet up with neighbours.
She said: “This year Keep Scotland Beautiful is celebrating its 50th anniversary and we are delighted to be involved in those celebrations by hosting a community picnic in beautiful surroundings.
“The Keep Scotland Beautiful ethos is all about celebrating our communities, our natural environment and our great local produce and Coupar Angus has all of those in abundance!
“So come along and join in the fun, everyone is welcome.”
Anne also added that the evening provided an opportunity for a neighbourly free plant swap if those coming along wanted to bring a plant that had been split or was no longer wanted.
