McCarthy & Stone support three organisations
with all the labour done by our volunteers.”
October literature festival BOOKMARK secured a donation of £400.
The popular event, which launched the programme for its fourth festival at the weekend, has attracted big names in the literary and broadcasting worlds to the town.
Treasurer Meg Luckins said: “This year’s event will attract top literary names to visit Blairgowrie for the weekend festival in October.
“Our headline guest will be James Naughtie and we are delighted that McCarthy and Stone has chosen to sponsor his visit to the capital of east Perthshire.”
A further £400 has been awarded to BRAN - an organisation consisting of some 30 enthusiastic volunteers who maintain the local Core Path network in order to encourage more people to enjoy the outdoors.
Secretary Ian Richards said: “Due to budgetary restraints our local authority has effectively had to withdraw from this important work, and as a direct consequence our group was formed in 2015 under the guidance of Bob Ellis, our convener.
“Whilst we do receive some welcome support from the council the sheer scale of the maintenance schedule means that we do need more mechanical tools in order stay on top of the work.
“This donation from McCarthy and Stone will be put to very good use and through the purchase of more tools will ensure that we can work with maximum effectiveness.
“We would like to register our sincere thanks to the management of McCarthy and Stone for recognising our work and for supporting it in such a generous way.”
Rosemary Giovino, regional sales and marketing director at McCarthy and Stone Scotland, added: “Each of these three local community groups do such a wonderful job in the area and we’re delighted to be able to donate to such worthy causes”
Darroch Gate is a development of 36 one and two bedroom retirement living apartments and it is anticipated that the first homeowners will be welcomed to the development in the spring of next year.
