He added: “Both Clare and Angus are very able students and have done very well during their time at the school.

“They came across very well in their interviews and we are delighted to be able to help support their projects.”

Thanking the Probus clubs for their support, Clare said: “I am really grateful to the clubs.

“Their financial assistance has helped me a lot with the costs of my trip to Tanzania.

“I will be there for three weeks, gaining invaluable medical work experience by shadowing doctors in one of the busiest hospitals in the country.

“I’ve always wanted that sort of hands-on experience and have been saving up for this trip for over a year now, so this award really is a big help.”

Angus also expressed his gratitude to the Probus clubs.

He commented: “I’m going to study law and business and this award will go a long way towards helping to pay for law books, which are very expensive, so it’s absolutely brilliant to receive this and I’m very grateful.

“I’m really looking forward to the course, I think it’s going to be excellent.”

The Blairgowrie Probus clubs have been supporting young people at the school with these awards since 2000.

Deputy head teacher at the Beeches Road school, Lesley Hill, added her congratulations to Angus and Clare and thanked the Probus clubs.

She said: “We are very grateful to and delighted with the Probus clubs’ ongoing support for the school and the endeavours of the pupils to gain a wider experience beyond the school.”

The amount donated as part of the Millennium Award varies each year depending on what the interview panel deems appropriate.

The Probus clubs were very impressed by the nature of what both Clare and Angus want to do
