Family abseil effort raises £2400

-

Blairgowrie’s Alison Ramsay and her family have raised over £2400 for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS) by abseiling from the Forth Bridge.

Alison lost her sister, Emily Gruneberg, six years ago to an undetected heart condition and jumped at the chance to take on the abseil challenge earlier this month and raise funds for the good cause.

And Alison’s daughters Jennifer and Kate also decided to sign up, along with her nieces Aimee, Zara and Tanya - Emily’s three daughters.

The intrepid team also held dress-down days, bake sales, raffles, a zumba fun night and set up an online fundraising page, all to help raise the terrific total.

Commenting on the abseil itself, Alison said: “It was a memorable day and the sense of achievement at the end was overwhelming. Some of us loved it and would do it again while I was a bit more shaken, but I did it!

“We would like to thank our family, friends and colleagues for donating and supporting us.

“We would also like to acknowledge the support of the volunteers and abseil team who were very supportive throughout the whole experience.”

CHSS director of fundraising, Penelope Blackwell, said of the family’s efforts:“We’re glad to hear that Alison and her family enjoyed the day at the abseil and we are so grateful for the money their bravery has raised.

“This fantastic amount will help us to support those living with heart conditions and fund vital research in to the area.”
