Holiday park celebrate top site award

- Johnathon Menzies

Staff at Blairgowrie Holiday Park were celebrating recently after the popular local destination scooped a top award.

The family-run Rattray-based business – owned by Wood Leisure – was named Best Caravan Site of the Year at the Scottish Hospitality Awards.

The ceremony was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow on June 13 and featured some of the most prominent names in the industry.

The Wood family and park managers took to the stage to collect their prize from award-winning radio presenter Gina McKie.

Margaret Wood, owner of Wood Leisure Holiday Parks, said:“We are absolutely ecstatic to have won this award. Our team and family have worked extremely hard over the years and we’re delighted it has paid off.

“Our category had some extremely tough competition which has made the win extra special. Thank you to all our loyal customers who nominated us.”

The family started the business over 30 years ago when Colin and Margaret Wood purchased Blairgowrie Holiday Park in 1981.

The Woods then extended their portfolio by purchasing four further sites, including Corriefodly Holiday Park in Bridge of Cally in 2000.

The recent good news follows on from the team at Blairgowrie Holiday Park being awarded a certificate of excellence from Trip Advisor and a Booking.com award in 2015 and again this year.
