Good wins for Blairand Rattray bowlers

The weather again resulted in a relatively small turnout of members for the rinks night on Friday last week.

Rink scores were: S Knoll 16, J Cockburn 5; H Douglas 13, B Rogerson 6. Highestup rink: R Mackenzie, A Paterson, S Knoll (skip) – 11 shots up.

Meanwhile, the club’s annual ladies vs gents competitio­n took place on the Lochy Terrace green on Sunday.

There was a reasonable turnout despite the weather. The men triumphed 24-11.

Elsewhere, the weekly club lottery now stands at £600.

There were no winners last week. The numbers were 3, 7, 12 and 17.

Rattray

Rattray played host to Brampton Bowling Club, a touring team from the Carlisle area, on July 12 – winning 137-72.

Refreshmen­ts were served after the mixed game took place.

Results, Rattray skips first, were as follows:

J Watson 25, A Dunbar 12; G Whyte 19, G Thomson 11; G Lawrence 12, B Milgate 21; I Brogan 29, D Batey 16; A McIntosh 27, K Warrier 5; N Nicholson 25, S Kawer 7.

Meanwhile, Rattray Ladies hosted Scone BC for a friendly played in good conditions on Thursday last week. The home side won 41-13.

Scores, Rattray skips first, were:

C Donaldson 23, M Harrier 5; E Stewart 18, L Grant 8.

The Gents’ section hosted a team from Errol BC on Saturday, winning 80-68.

Players enjoyed a meal following the game, which was played in pleasant conditions.

A delegation from Rattray BC is heading to this week’s national finals in Ayr.
