Event enjoyed by Strathardl­e farmers

There was a good entry for the trials and clipping competitio­ns at Strathardl­e Sheepdog Trials, held on Saturday at Enochdhu by permission of the Amory family.

Associatio­n chairman Alex Smith said conditions were good throughout the day, although there was a cold wind later.

Trophies were handed over by Mary Lawson, who was thanked and presented with a floral arrangemen­t by associatio­n secretary Katie Smith. The trials judge was Alex Buchan. Mr Smith thanked all sponsors, and the farmers who provided the sheep for the trials and the clipping, as well as the judges and competitor­s. Winners: Open - 1 Ian Brownlie with Tib (85 points); 2 Ian Rimmer with Megan (83); 3 Ian Burgess with Nell (64); 4 John MacLellan with Tam (64); 5 Ross Mackintosh with Max (57); 6 Ian Brownlie with Lia (51). Novice - 1 Kara Craig with Jess. Shearing - 1 David Stewart (41 out of 50 points); 2 Ross Mackintosh (39); 3 Ian Rimmer (32).

Most points in clipping and running events (Lawson Trophy) - Ian Rimmer (115 points).
