Blair hurt by Jags

-

A careless spell either side of the interval contributed to a 5-1 friendly defeat for Blairgowrie at home to Larkhall Thistle on Saturday.

The hosts started brightly at Davie Park, missing a few early chances – one of which was a shot cleared off the line.

An error by the Davie Park side saw Thistle take the lead after five minutes. Blairgowrie soon got back to level terms with a low drive from Allan Cruickshank.

Slackness allowed Larkhall to score the decisive goals in a 10-minute spell either side of half-time.

That apart, Blair gave a decent account of themselves and were denied by some good goalkeeping.

Four games in a week appeared to have taken its toll on Billy Mackay’s side, which were without several players owing to holidays.

Blair play Forfar West End in their final pre-season match on Wednesday this week. Kick-off is 7pm.

The competitive North Division action kicks off on Saturday this week.

Blairgowrie start the season with an awkward trip to Fife to play Lochore Welfare.

The match kicks-off at 2.30pm in the village of Crosshill.  Meanwhile, this week’s Blairgowrie JFC berry-pickers’ weigh-in numbers were 5, 8, 16 and 19.

There were no winners, meaning the jackpot next week is £500.
