Logan sees the positives afterloss

-

It was a frustrating afternoon on Saturday for new Coupar Angus Juniors manager Logan McConachie.

The Foxhall Park side started slowly and eventually ended up losing 3-0 at home to Thornton Hibs.

McConachie said: “Conceding a goal in the first minute was probably the worst start I could have imagined.

“The guys had worked hard all week on how we were going to set up, as we had an idea of how they would play and we were spot on. Two individual errors let us down.

“We started better in the second half and I’m still disappointed in some of the decisions made against us.

“We got a really good, well-worked, goal chalked off for offside which no one agreed with – even Thornton. It was a real blow to the guys as it could have kicked us on closer to an equaliser.”

McConachie is convinced his side, which includes a number of new signings, will continue to improve with time.

“We took plenty positives,” he said. “The guys barely know each other yet and we know that they will only get better with time. It’s very much early days but we want to be competing with all the teams in our league.

“We’ve got the players to do it – it’s just making sure we stick to our plan, have a bit more belief and get all the players to know how each other plays.

“I know we’re getting better each time we’re together and, long-term, we’ll get there.”

Coupar are away at East Cragie in the league on Saturday. Kick-off 2.30pm.
