The Blairgowrie puppy’s name is...

Blairgowrie is to name its very own Guide Dog puppy thanks to a fundraising campaign spearheaded by Lesley McDonald from Cargill’s Bistro and Restaurant.

The Name a Puppy campaign has successfully raised £5000 and the puppy’s name, as chosen by members of the public, will be Bramble.

The winning name was revealed on Sunday at Cargill’s, alongside the winner of the competition to meet the puppy, Lisa Marinnissen.

Lisa’s name was drawn from all the people who voted for Bramble as their favourite name for the puppy by Blairgowrie and Rattray Citizen of the Year Lisa Hilditch, who is herself a puppy walker for Guide Dogs Scotland.

Lesley McDonald, the owner of Cargill’s, is delighted to have reached their target of £5000 so quickly. She said:“It has been really enjoyable thinking up new and exciting fundraising ideas for this campaign and we are so pleased to have achieved our goal.

“In fact we’ve enjoyed it so much that we’re going to do it all again and raise funds to name another puppy!

“We have a number of fundraising ideas on the go already, including selling hats, gloves and scarves in the run up to a sell-out Perthshire Amber cfae concert that we are hosting in the autumn, and we are planning another festive ‘Meet the Maker’ afternoon with a particular focus on food and drink.

“In addition, Rex Last, a local author, is donating the royalties of his latest eBook, She Smokes like a Fish, which can be purchased from Amazon, to our latest fundraising efforts.’’
