Local foundation benefits from donation by bikers

-

Sam’s BIG STAR Foundation, a charity run by Blairgowrie couple Alan and Fiona Coupar in memory of their late son Sam, has received a donation of £3000 from the organisers of the Tomintoul Motorcycle Gathering (TMG).

The gathering, which took place in the Highland village in July, attracted hundreds of bikers for a weekend of live music, food and a custom motorcycle show that is fast-gaining a reputation as one of the best in the country.

And this year, organisers made Sam’s BIG STAR foundation their main charity beneficiary for the event.

Both Alan and Fiona attend the event as they are keen bikers and were overwhelmed at the generosity of their fellow riders.

Alan said:“Fiona and myself went back up to Tomintoul this month with a few close friends for the presentation of the donation cheque by the TMG committee, but we were gobsmacked when we saw the amount written on the cheque!

“£3000 is our biggest ever single donation and we can’t thank the TMG team enough, the amount of time and effort they put into the event is incredible.”

Sam’s BIG STAR Foundation raises money to support the work of Brainstrust.

The charity is dedicated to all aspects of brain cancer, from care to cure, and in particular will help fund work at the first nationwide brain tumour tissue bank, based in Glasgow’s Southern General Hospital.
