First win for Blair Thistle

-

There was delight on Saturday as east Perthshire’s newest football side – Blair Thistle AFC – recorded their first-ever win.

Crieff outfit Strathearn Grove were the visitors, and took the lead with a goal from a tight angle after 34 minutes.

One-nil down at the break, Blair Thistle got back into the match with an equaliser from Dee-Jay Tolmie after some great build-up.

Thistle were now on top and it was the crossbar that prevented Dee-Jay scoring his and Blair’s second when his shot came back off the woodwork.

The home side forged ahead when Calum Crighton burst forward from midfield and played it perfectly into Dion Tolmie’s path, who flashed a shot from the edge of the box into the goal.

Blair weren’t finished there though and, when Crighton was fouled in the box, he quickly dusted himself down and the captain made no mistake from the spot to make it 3-1.

Grove scored a late second to make it 3-2 and give Blair a nervous last couple of minutes.

Dee-Jay Tolmie received the club’s man of the match award.
