Attacker given unpaid work order
Violence erupted in a Blairgowrie pub after a female customer attacked another woman with a glass.
Perth Sheriff Court was told that 31-year-old Dielle Whitson grabbed the other patron by the face, smashed a tumbler and then threw it at her.
The jagged glass struck 26-year-old Gemma Scott on the head, causing injuries to the right side of her temple and her chin.
When Whitson was arrested and taken to Perth police headquarters, she kicked out at PC John Ferguson, injuring him on the leg.
The accused was spared a jail sentence on Wednesday last week because the injuries inflicted were “relatively slight.”
Instead, she was ordered to complete 225 hours of unpaid work.
But Sheriff William Wood warned her: “If you behave like this in the future, you increase the risk of a custodial sentence significantly.”
She admitted the attack on Miss Scott which took place in the Crown Bar, Wellmeadow, on October 9 last year.
The assault on the police officer took place at the force’s Barrack Street premises later the same day.
Whitson was subject to a September 12, 2015, bail order at the time.
Depute fiscal Rebecca Kynaston said the female assault victim had been “enjoying a night out with friends” at the time.
They were sitting at a table close to the bar when they were joined by others.
