Information day planned on private water supplies
An information day in relation to private water supplies is to be held on Thursday next week.
The drop-in session will be held from 3.30-8pm at the Blackwater Hall, situated north of Bridge of Cally off the A93.
Various stalls will provide guidance on how to ensure the safety of a given water supply, newly-available technology, features of best practice and applying for potential grant funding.
Agencies represented will include Perth and Kinross Council, the Citizens Advice Bureau, Waterwise and Scottish Water, among others.
Drinking water quality regulators will deliver presentations at 3.45pm and 6.30pm.
Scottish Water representatives will detail how to manage a private water supply’s catchment area at 4.30pm and 7.15pm.
A field trip to a local water source will be led by a representative of the visiting Irish National Federation of Group Water Schemes at 5pm.
Themed activities will be provided for children throughout the drop-in. Teas and coffees will be available. The event is part of a wider, government-funded, project on sustainable rural communities.
It is being led locally by two researchers from Kirkmichael, Hannah Goodman and Mahri Ivey.
They are being supported by Glasgow Caledonian University and the James Hutton Institute.
