Development at Blairgowrie Tennis Club
Ambitious plans for tennis players in the town
Exciting plans signalling the next stage in the vision for Blairgowrie Tennis Club have this week been revealed.
Proposals for a club house as part of the transformation of facilities at the JJ Coupar Recreation Park facilities have been submitted to Perth and Kinross Council planners.
They comprise a club house and external terrace overlooking the tennis courts.
The courts arrangement itself was signficantly boosted earlier this year thanks to the completion of a new all-weather surface with high quality floodlighting.
The detailed scheme reveals a simple club house set up, with toilets and changing facilities for a variety of needs, club room and function room, as well as a kitchen and storage.
In April five new all-weather courts with the price tag of £320,000 opened to members.
It marked a key moment for campaigning club members who, for more than 10 years, have been fundraising and planning for the improvements.
The sports organisation’s website says that it is hoped to commence work on the club house before the end of the year.
The tennis club was supported in its efforts by the Gannochy Trust, the Robertson Trust, Sportscotland, the Lawn Tennis Association and Perth and Kinross Council for the work done so far.
