Community comes together
the rattray Church Flower Festival, held recently in the church, has been hailed by organisers as another tremendous success.
those behind the popular event say that it is aimed at encouraging interaction between the community in rattray and Blairgowrie and the church.
As in previous years, local crafters were invited to display some of their wares at the event.
A spokesperson for the festival said:“We had a wood turner who had made a beautiful violin and matchstick models, tatters, knitters, painters, quilters who had made both wall hangings and bed quilts, and of course the flower arrangers as well.
“It was a wonderful weekend with folks of all kinds helping, arranging, serving teas and coffees, and many others who‘just’came along for the company.
“special thanks are due to the tea ladies, two of whom were there every day and all day, and without them things would not have gone so well.
“thanks also are due to those who gave of their time and talents to set up the various displays.
“the weekend concluded with a wonderful service of ‘our Favourite Hymns’with many folks from the congregation both in rattray and our linked church in Kirkmichael there plus friends and family.
“From a community point it view it was highly successful and many thanks are owed to everyone who helped in so many ways.”
