Charity group in the running for cash from fund

explained why it was important for them.

She said: “All the members of Meigle Musicality and our charity partners have benefited so much from being involved with the choir, and we want our good work to continue for many more years.

“We want to spread the word about what we do and encourage and inspire others.

“Maybe they will want to join our choir or support us by listening to us sing and giving to our chosen charity. Most of all, we want to lift their spirits through the power of song!

“There have been many studies on the psychological and physical benefits of singing in a choir, which include regulating your heart rate, reducing stress levels and depression, improving feelings of social wellbeing and increased life expectancy.

“And the experience not only benefits and bonds the choir members, but their friends, families and wider communities feel the effects too.

“Through the emotions, sheer hard work and some poignant moments, it inspires them and makes them want to continue.

“If we were successful in obtaining funding from the Aviva Community Fund, it would help us to pay for the many aspects of organising the events we hold such as providing sheet music, paying for the hire of the venue and lighting and decorating it.

“It would also help us with advertising costs and paying for flyers, signage, refreshments and tickets and programmes.”
