Northlands home up for award

Northlands Care Home in Blairgowri­e has been nominated for a prestigiou­s award which celebrates excellent service to residents.

The Woodlands Road home has been shortliste­d in the Care Home Service of the Year category at the Scottish Care Awards 2016.

In addition Freda Clark, who is deputy manager at the care home, has been shortliste­d in the Nurse of the Year category.

The winners in both categories will be announced at a special ceremony at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel on Friday (November 18).

Manager Heather Gilchrist commented: “Northlands is a special place where everyone is passionate about fully understand­ing the residents and their families to be able to deliver the best possible care.

“The whole ethos of Northlands is that this is the resident’s home. Everything is done in consultati­on with residents and their families to make sure life is as good as it can possibly be.

“We work hard to ensure everyone feels like a priority.”

Speaking about Freda she continued:“Freda is an inspiratio­n to others within the care sector.

“Freda is excellent at ensuring high quality care and her overwhelmi­ng sense of dignity and respect and makes her an inspiratio­n to others.

“Freda always puts the residents at the heart of all her care.”

Freda added: “I am very surprised but thrilled and honoured to be chosen as a finalist.”
