Northlands home up for award

Northlands Care Home in Blairgowrie has been nominated for a prestigious award which celebrates excellent service to residents.

The Woodlands Road home has been shortlisted in the Care Home Service of the Year category at the Scottish Care Awards 2016.

In addition Freda Clark, who is deputy manager at the care home, has been shortlisted in the Nurse of the Year category.

The winners in both categories will be announced at a special ceremony at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel on Friday (November 18).

Manager Heather Gilchrist commented: “Northlands is a special place where everyone is passionate about fully understanding the residents and their families to be able to deliver the best possible care.

“The whole ethos of Northlands is that this is the resident’s home. Everything is done in consultation with residents and their families to make sure life is as good as it can possibly be.

“We work hard to ensure everyone feels like a priority.”

Speaking about Freda she continued:“Freda is an inspiration to others within the care sector.

“Freda is excellent at ensuring high quality care and her overwhelming sense of dignity and respect and makes her an inspiration to others.

“Freda always puts the residents at the heart of all her care.”

Freda added: “I am very surprised but thrilled and honoured to be chosen as a finalist.”
