Hats off to Bunters’ Cash for Kids boost

- Clare Damodaran

Staff at Bunters Ice Cream and Sandwich Bar in Blairgowrie presented a cheque for more than £630 to the Cash for Kids appeal.

The money was raised after their annual Hallowe’en fancy dress fundraiser, which took place over the weekend of October 29-31.

Staff at the popular takeaway dressed up as characters from Alice in Wonderland’s Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

They also held competitions to guess the name of the spider and a range of spooky, scary and spicy Hallowe’en treats including cup cakes, muffins and pumpkin soup as well as regular favourites were on the menu.

Manager Tina Gliddon thanked everyone for their support.

She said:“We would like to thank all our customers, friends and families for their sponsorship and donations.

“The spider’s name was Grimm and the winner of the competition was Douglas Mackie Jnr.”

Cash for Kids raises money for local children and young people who are suffering from abuse or neglect, who are disabled and have special needs or who simply need extra care or guidance.

All the money raised on behalf of Cash for Kids stays in the area it was raised in, providing a helping hand when and where it is needed most.

Last year, the 22 Cash for Kids regions raised a total of £18.1 million.

Accepting the cheque for Cash for Kids, Alison Carr said:“Bunters have supported us for years now and this has been a record year for them.

“£632.14 is an amazing amount and will go towards helping thousands of disadvantaged children across Tayside or Fife.

“This could buy six beds for children who don’t have their own beds for example, or winter clothes for young people who need them.

“The support we get from Bunters and the local Blairgowrie community is just tremendous and on behalf of Cash for Kids I would like to say a big thank you to Tina, her staff and all their customers for their generosity, it is very much appreciated.”
