Church Morning worship on Sunday was conducted by Derek Colley. This week morning worship begins at 11am. The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland will be giving the address. There will be an evening service on Sunday from 7pm. During term time the Sunday school welcomes children to the front pews of the church. A creche for under-threes is available. The prayer group meets on Thursdays in Burnside Court lounge at 10.30am. Choir rehearsal is every Friday at 6.45pm. New members are welcome. Coffee morning The annual Men in Kilts coffee morning is on Saturday, January 21, at 10am in Airlie Street Hall. There will be the usual stalls and the hall will be open on Friday, January 20, between 2 and 3pm for donations. Burrelton

Church Morning worship on Sunday was led by Rev Dr Hugh Ormiston, with John Alexander reading from Psalm 36 v 5-10 and from John ch 2, v 1-11. Office-bearers on duty were John Alexander, Ishbel Chambers and Alec Orr. The organist was Lynne Mitchell and Sunday Club was led by Alison Martin. Flowers were provided by Gladys Laing. Teas and coffees were served by Gail MacKenzie.

Coupar Angus

Church Sunday’s service was conducted by Rev Andy Graham and the readings by Jo Chinn were from Isaiah ch 49, v 1-7, and Ephesians ch 6, v 10-20. The choir sang an introit ‘There Is One Name’ by R Critchley. In his sermon Rev Graham introduced his theme of prayer. In Paul’s letter to the Ephesians he urges them to combat evil by putting on the full armour of God, which is held together by the power of prayer. Prayer is the most powerful tool people have. It is their lifeline to God. Organist Austin Wilkie played Interlude in F (A Herbert Brewer) and Fantasia in C Major (JS Bach). Prayer meetings will start on Wednesday, January 18, at 2pm in the Abbey Church. The deadline for articles for the Isla Link is Sunday. Thursday Friends Kay Keay welcomed a smaller group, owing to illness, to the haggis, neeps and tatties lunch on January 12. She introduced Gordon Pattulo, who entertaine­d those gathered with lovely music and stories. Everyone enjoyed their meal thanks to Mary and Jenny. Kay thanked everyone for attending and Gordon for his music. The next party is at 2pm in the town hall on February 9. Heritage Associatio­n Coupar Angus and District Heritage Associatio­n held a very enjoyable Christmas party on Friday, January 13, at the Red House Hotel. Joe Richards welcomed members and friends and everyone enjoyed a lovely meal followed by quizzes, recitals, songs, games and a raffle. Joe thanked everyone for attending and Alan Bannerman and his staff. The next meeting is at the bowling club at 7.30pm.

Kinclaven

Church Sunday’s service was conducted by Rev Peggy Ewart-Roberts and the organist was Janet Coyle. Readings from Isaiah ch 49, v 1-7, and John ch 1, v 29-42, were read by Bill Service. The next Guild meeting is on Thursday, January 19, at 2pm. The speaker will be Alan Imrie, whose talk is titled ‘A Thistle Among the Roses’.

Kirkmichae­l

Session House the Session House is supporting the Mothers’ Union’s annual appeal for donations of new pants to be included in personal packets given to ladies taken into prison straight from court wearing just the clothes they stand up in. Donations of new pants of any size can be handed in to the Session House throughout January and February.
