Pass it on week in Coupar Angus
People in Coupar Angus and the surrounding area are being encouraged to take part in Scotland’s annual reuse event, Pass It On Week, which takes place from March 11 to 19.
Pass it on Week is billed by organisers as a great opportunity to get swapping, sharing, donating, buying, selling or repairing any type of used item from clothes to bikes, books to sports kit, and gadgets to tools.
In Coupar Angus activities are being planned around the Cross on Saturday, March 11, including a clothes swapshop, a second-hand bike sale, doctor bike, a garden swapshop and making items from pallet wood.
Ian Simpson from the Lower Carbon Coupar Angus project said: “Reusing and repairing saves money, cuts down on waste and conserves valuable resources including energy used to manufacture new things.
“So buying second-hand items at charity shops, flea markets, car boot sales, jumble sales and auctions is not only good for your pocket but good for the environment too.”
He added:“The swapshops at the Cross will operate on a fair trade principle.
“If you donate something you can take away items of roughly the same value.
“If you see something you like but haven’t got anything to swap then you can make a small donation instead.
“The charity shop will also be in full swing, with lots of bargains to be had on Saturday morning in aid of Coupar Angus Gala Rocks and then Pride of Place will be running it the following week.
“Residents are invited to get involved by contributing to any of the above activities through donations or‘purchases’or even by organising events themselves like a table top sale outside their house or a garage sale.”
