Musicians play their part for Macmillan Cancer Support

Two talented musicians have raised an incredible £4000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Blairgowrie’s very own Jordan Fox and Callum McHoul have raised the money from the proceeds of their debut album, In Memory, which was released in November and which is dedicated to Callum’s older brother, Paul, who died in a car crash last year.

Paul was a long-term supporter of Macmillan, which inspired the duo to donate the proceeds from the album to the charity.

The 12-track album, which includes the single Tomorrow, is available to buy online, and a limited run of CDs have been on sale in Tesco in Blairgowrie – where Callum works – and the Co-op in the Wellmeadow where Jordan works, as well as at local pubs No 31s and the Ericht Alehouse.

There are only around 80 copies still available and anyone who would like to buy one is advised to get it soon before they sell out.

Jordan wrote and played all the music for the album, which was recorded and mastered in his house in Blairgowrie, while Callum wrote the lyrics and sang all the vocals.

In Memory has received critical acclaim and airtime from the likes of radio DJ and staunch supporter of new music in Scotland, Jim Gellatly – on his Amazing Music show – as well as Tay FM’s Wake Up With Webster show.

Thanking everyone in Blairgowrie for their support, Callum said: “We would just like to say cheers to everybody in the town for backing us. We have had a lot of support from pretty much everyone in the whole town and beyond and it has been great – we really appreciate it.

“We never imagined we would raise this much money, it is more than we could ever have hoped for.

“Paul was well liked in the town and I hope I have made him proud of me with this.”

The fundraising for Macmillan is ongoing, with 72 members of Paul’s family and his friends climbing Ben Nevis in May this year in support of the charity.

Local Macmillan fundraising committee member Carol Bisset thanked Callum and Jordan for their generosity on behalf of the good cause.

She said: “We are overwhelmed with the amount of money they have raised and with the great support that they have from their family and friends which has enabled them to do it.

“We know how hard it is to raise money for charity and this has been a fantastic effort, and we are very grateful to Callum and Jordan for their support.”

And Jordan’s mum, Anne, added: “We are all very proud of them, they are very talented boys.”
