Church Communion was celebrated twice on Sunday and was followed by an evening service of thanksgivi­ng. All services were conducted by Rev Mike Erskine. On Sunday this week morning worship will begin at 11am in Airlie Street Hall while the church is undergoing maintenanc­e. During term time the Sunday school welcomes children to the front pews of the church each Sunday morning. A creche for under-threes is available during every Sunday morning service. The prayer group meets on Thursdays in Burnside Court lounge at 10.30am. Choir rehearsal is every Friday at 6.45pm. New members welcome. \Blackwater

Hall committee A quiz night will be held in Blackwater Hall on Friday, March 17. The fun starts at 7.30pm. Teams of four, entry is £2.50 per person. There will be a raffle and a licensed bar.

\Burrelton

Bowling club Burrelton Bowling Club will hold its annual bingo tea in Burrelton Village Hall on Friday, March 24. Eyes down at 7.30pm. for his 30 years’service on the Kirkmichae­l Village Hall committee. Provost Grant thanked Andrew on behalf of the committee and added her personal gratitude to him for the support he has given to her over many years.

Church Morning worship was led by the Rev Stevie Thomson with readings by Jean MacDiarmid from Genesis ch 7 v 15-17 and ch 3 v 1-7, the disobedien­ce of man, and from the Gospel of Matthew ch 4 v 1-11, the temptation of Jesus. Office-bearers on duty were Susan Christie, Russell Martin and Ruth McLean. Sunday Club was led by Caroline MaKay. The organist was Lynne Mitchell and flowers were provided by Caroline McKay. Refreshmen­ts were served by Moira and Hugh Ormiston. Communion will be celebrated during morning worship on Sunday, March 12. There will be a retiring collection for Erskine Hospital. Guild Ann Whittaker told members about the training and functions of hearing dogs. Devotions were led by Margaret Linley, who also gave the vote of thanks. Praise was accompanie­d by Moira Ormiston and the hostess was Gail MacKenzie. The next meeting is the AGM on Thursday, March 16, at 7pm. This will be followed by a silent auction in aid of Erskine Hospital. Coffee morning There will be a coffee morning on Saturday, March 18, in the church halls, Woodside from 10am to noon. Home baking and raffle. Adults £2.50, children £1, children under five years free. Proceeds to Busy Bees Parents and Toddlers group. Senior Club The next meeting is on Thursday, March 9, when the members look forward to welcoming Stella and Jim Cormie to show their video ‘A Red Red Rose’.

\Coupar Angus

Abbey Church Sunday’s service was conducted by the Rev Andy Graham and the readings by Anne Richards were Psalm 32, Matthew ch 4, v 1-11. Rev Graham talked of the time when Jesus fasted in the wilderness for 40 days and nights, resisting the temptation­s of Satan. He said people face the same temptation­s in their daily lives, namely a quick road to power, status, popularity and material goods, but should resist

them and put faith and trust in God. The prayer meeting at the Abbey Church is every Wednesday at 2pm. The next Bible Study is on Wednesday, March 8, at 7.15pm, in the Abbey Church. The road from Coupar Angus to the Abbey Church is currently closed for road works. Vehicular access is restricted so the children’s groups will be suspended until Thursday, March 16.
