Success at karate club kyu gradings
Blairgowrie and Coupar Angus Shotokan Karate Club held a grading exam at Blairgowrie Community Campus on Saturday.
Thirty-four students took part and were successful.
A spokesperson for the club said: “Everyone performed admirably and exceeded their class performances. They all gave 100 per cent effort and 100 per cent commitment.
“Notably, Conor Wilkinson achieved his senior 1st dan black belt. It was an exhausting test of physical and mental ability. Conor rose to the challenge and put in a good performance.
“The other notable students of the day were Rohini Mayne and Brooke Jenkins, who both robustly met the challenge.
“It’s inspirational to see kids and adults alike try their very best to achieve a goal.”
Students achieved the following gradings: 9th kyu red belt - Finn Greig, Harvey Jenkins, Kai Wallace, Riley Jenkins, Snooky Marshall and Alexis Marshall; 8th kyu yellow belt - Aimee Thompson, Lisa Thompson and Summer Hamilton; 7th kyu orange belt - Craig Constable, Matthew Bell, Sophie Duncan, Sarah Spalding, Jack Smith, Holly Jenkins, Shabaz Zulkernain, Sulayman Zulkernain, Daniel Ostrowski and Matthew Stallard; 6th kyu green belt - Philip Jenkins, Lewis Wright, Finlay Wilson and Keira Hamilton; 5th kyu blue belt - Steven Knowles, Jan Sala, Patrick Mucha and Tyler Brand; 4th kyu purple belt - Rohini Mayne, Brooke Jenkins, Lisa Knowles and George Brodie; 3rd kyu brown belt - Steven Knowles and Callum Cannon; 1st dan black belt - Conor Wilkinson.
