Meigle seconds’ fixtures

-

After a winter of change – with clubs joining the Strathmore and Perthshire Cricket Union’s Division Two Sunday leagues – there are now four divisions covering the Caledonia region.

Meigle XI, the 2nd team of Meigle Cricket Club, take their place in the new Division Two Central and the opening game is set for May 21 against Dalnacraig.

However, a fixture move for a game in August is being looked at to ensure a Sunday afternoon can be made available for the Great Meigle Bake Off and six a-sides.

This could mean a start on April 23 or 30 for Bobby Edington’s second string.

The ex-Coupar Angus skipper has won plaudits for how he has run his reserves in his first season at the helm and has balanced his side with youngsters from the Meigle youth section.

These include allrounder Fergus Barron and experienced players such as Chris Dickson and Gordon Croll.

The season runs to September 3, when an away trip to Lochside in Forfar sees them take on Strathmore XI.
