Nominations open for top local award
Town’s annual Citizen of theYear
The search is on for the next Blairgowrie and Rattray Citizen of the Year and Young Person of the Year.
Nominations are open now for the annual accolade, which is run by Blairgowrie and Rattray Community Council (BRCC) and supported by the Blairgowrie Advertiser.
Community councillor for Blairgowrie and Rattray, Pat McGregor, is keen to encourage as many people as possible to nominate those they think are worthy recipients of the honour.
She said: “We are looking for people who make a difference in the community - whether that is to your life, or towards helping make the town a better place to work and live in, or towards making your sports club the best it can be or supporting your children to make more of their lives.
“We had two very worthy recipients of the awards last year in Lisa Hilditch from the in the spotlight.
She said: “I was very honoured to be chosen as Citizen of the Year and the last year has been fabulous.”
The Citizen of the Year is open to anyone who lives in the Blairgowrie and Rattray area.
The Young Person of the Year award is for open to those under 21-years-old who live in the area.
Nomination forms are available at Blairgowrie Library, the One Voice office, and in newsagents and various other outlets in the town.
Completed forms should be handed in to the library.
You can also nominate online through the Blairgowrie and Rattray Community Council website and Facebook pages from now until April 27.
Once all the forms have been submitted, an independent panel of judges will consider all the nominations on a range of criteria, including the number of nominations an individual has received and the number of people benefiting from a nominee’s activities.
