Coupar Angus slip up in Dundee

-

Coupar Angus returned home empty-handed from their North Division clash with Dundee North End at the weekend.

The Foxhall Park side trailed by a solitary goal at the break before losing a further two in the second half in what would end up as a 3-0 defeat.

Coupar Angus had the first chance in bizarre circumstances, when a corner struck a North End defender and the ball hit the post.

The home keeper was on hand to prevent his side falling behind.

North End were quick in attack, however Jack Shaw was able to hold anything they produced.

Coupar’s Chris Liversedge ran down the left and struck a good shot from the edge of the box with the keeper making a good block to keep it at nil-nil.

North End had a great chance to score, with the ball won in the box it was passed back to the striker who smashed the bar.

In the 32nd minute, North End won a throw-in and the ball went down the right and was crossed over for the striker to head the ball into the net.

The second half was five minutes old, when North End increased their lead after fine work in attack saw the striker with a simple tap-in to double their lead.

Alex Gibb then beat the defence to the ball, but the home keeper came out bravely to smother.

North End finished the scoring in the last minute.

Coupar are away to tabletoppers Kirrie Thistle on Saturday this week.

Kick-off is at 2.30pm.
